Needle Felting

Needle felting is the transformation of turning woolen fibers into a 3d object with the use of a felting needle. The needle is continuously stabbed thousands of times in and out of the woolen fibers until it resembles the achieved look. Due to the nature of its process, the production of needle felting is considered very therapeutic and extremely relaxing. Forms of felting originated as far back as 700BC, where examples of which were found inside Siberian tombs. It wasn’t until recently (1980’s) that inventors David and Eleanor Stanwood were credited with what we know today as needle felting. If you feel inspired to give it a go, why not try one of our felting kits here with Sewing Street.
