"On the Wing" is a striking and beautiful quilt from Janet Clare with amazing energy and movement created using a traditional log cabin block design coupled with fusible appliqué gulls. Originally made in Janet Clare’s ‘Ebb and Flow’ fabrics this quilt kit features her latest ‘To The Sea’ fabrics in a very similar colourway.

"On the Wing" is 50 x 50 inches when finished and this limited edition quilt kit includes enough fabrics from Janet Clare’s ‘To The Sea’ Moda fabric collection to piece the top and bind the quilt. Moda fabric is 100% cotton, a lovely medium weight, and beautiful to sew with.

Packaged in a cotton Janet Clare tote bag it includes:

· Janet Clare ‘To The Sea’ Moda fabrics:

o One jelly roll – comprising 40 x 2 ½ inch strips of fabric each 42” long

o 1 yd of dark blue striped fabric for appliqué gulls and binding

o 1 ¼ yds pale cream ship fabric for log cabin centres

· 1m of fusible web (for gulls)

· Full colour pattern, with detailed instructions, full size template and lovely photographs

· A full colour quilt pattern, with detailed layout diagrams, fabric requirements and cutting lists.

The quilt is constructed using traditional quilting techniques and having some patchwork experience will make this project easier, but the techniques are simple to learn, and can be tackled by all skill levels!

The detailed pattern guides you through fabric selection, the piecing of the log cabin blocks, making the appliqué gulls, preparing the quilt backing, wadding, layering up and binding. Also includes lots of hints and tips to get you confident with free-motion quilting and breathe life into those gulls!
